Fit & Fab: 2010, A Pace Odyssey

Pick up your pace. For 2010, resolve to make speedy transitions when forming healthy habits; flexibility is paramount. Create realistic resolutions to improve your life. Consider these:

1) Love your body! You are beautiful. Appreciate your unique beauty and know it emanates from within. Suggested reading: Body Outlaws: Rewriting the Rules of Beauty and Body Image.

2) Avoid overeating. This single step works wonders. During each meal, remind yourself not to eat until you “feel full.” Eat small portions, then redirect your attention.

3) Seek inspiration. Find groups, magazines & blogs that motivate you. Look for support from others pursuing similar goals. Jillian Michaels (Personal Trainer on TV’s “The Biggest Loser”) has a fantastic site that includes a variety of effective fitness tools. On Jillian’s site, you can connect with your own weight loss buddy.

4) Indulge in diet adventures. Healthy diets don’t have to be dull. Develop good eating habits while enjoying healthy and delicious foods. 5) Move more. Make a conscious effort to be more active. Even increasing your movement during sedentary activities burns extra calories. Suggested reading: NEAT (nonexercise activity thermogenesis).

Avoid rigidity so that missteps don’t slow you down. Although today brings a new year, potential for growth lives in each moment. Tomorrow’s sunrise will also bring endless opportunities to begin anew.
